Paperless and Confused at ASAE07
Tuesday, August 7, 2007
I'm happy that ASAE is going paperless for 2007. (Especially after receiving that 92 page--plus cover--marketing brochure. Can ASAE please pare that down?) Besides feeling a sense of environmental responsibility, it's forced me to prepare a little more carefully so that I won't be one of the dazed and confused wandering the hallways like I was at the Great Ideas Conference in Marco Island...even while the lights were still on.
Conference Objectives
As a marketer, I spend most of my time writing about "what's in it for you." Today, I'm indulging in a new exercise. Here's what's in it for me. ;-)
- Make Friends and Business Contacts--I'm the quiet, shy type, so it surprises me that this makes #1 on my list. But, isn't it the main reason we meet face-to-face, instead of taking an online class? I'm especially psyched for the Bloggercon.
- Gather Primary Research--I need sources of reliable, marketing intelligence. I like drawing my own conclusions, so finding sources of primary research is one of my quirky goals.
- Have 3 Great Ideas--I like the number three...I like great ideas. I want this conference to be the impetus for three great ideas that I can apply to my daily routine.
- Improve My Presentation Skills--Since I'll be presenting at the Great Ideas Conference in Orlando, I'm hoping to pick up some presentation tips on technique. I'm especially interested in how presenters are able to tap the brain power of the audience.
Thanks for indulging me. If you plan to be at the ASAE Annual Meeting, let me know about your goals...maybe we can help each other.

Hi Lindy -- Stop by our booth -- #203 -- so we can meet. That would be one more contact for your goal. Tony
